Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet printer best suited for printing a shading image with a simple structure and a capability to adjust the volume of an ink droplet. CONSTITUTION:A drive signal to be supplied to an acoustic drive device such as a piezoelectric element 32 connected to the partition wall of an ink chamber contains a reciprocally reversed polarity refilling pulse component 62 and an ejection pulse component 64, and further contains a wait time component X between these components. An ink droplet of desired volume can be generated by adjusting these components 62, 64 and X.
