Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To provide a high efficiency solar battery, without performing lattice matching of semiconductor materials and without using cadmium sulfide. CONSTITUTION: This solar battery comprises a substrate 1 having a first conductivity electrode 2, a p-conductivity-type polycrystalline semiconductor layer 3 of brass steel, a barrier layer 4 of nonconductive material, an antireflection layer 6 and a second electrode 5. The antireflection layer 6 has a fixed positive electric charge, which induces a negative-charged inversion layer 11 in a contact surface region of the semiconductor layer 3 with respect to the barrier layer 4. The inversion layer 11 is used as an emitter for a spatial electric charge region 10.
