Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst for oxidizing sulfur dioxide, its production and oxidation method for sulfur dioxide. CONSTITUTION: This catalyst contains (A1 ) vanadium oxide, (A2 ) alkali metal oxides and/or alkali metal sulfates as a catalytic active substance, (B) silicon and/or aluminum in an oxide form as a surface area enlargement component and (C) titanium oxide in anatase form and/or rutile form as a carrier material and a ceramic binder, and is formed as a monolithic and optionally honeycombed perfect catalyst. A mixture of the components (A), (B) and (C) in the catalyst exists as a finely sintered form in atomic ratios of the component metals of (A1 ):(A2 ):(B):(C)=(0.01-0.2):(0.01-0.2):(0.001-0.5):1. The catalyst accelerates a conversion rate of SO2 to SO3 .
