CO OR CO2 WAVEGUIDE LASER

PURPOSE: To prolong a service life without damaging quality by covering an electrode with a layer for enduring oxidation by adjacent plasma provided with little coarseness not to be obstruction to wave guiding. CONSTITUTION: The two electrodes 1 and 2 of this waveguide laser are respectively provided with passive state layers 3 and the layers are adjacent to a plasma chamber 8. Two ceramic pieces 4 are inserted and brazed on the electrode 1 or 2 between the passive state layers 3 and made to function as an interval holding body for the electrode and as the closing part of the plasma chamber 8. The passive state layers 3 endure the oxidation by the plasma in the plasma chamber 8. Thus, since the balance of ions in the plasma is maintained over the period of time, the laser satisfies the normal request for the service life.
