Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide an electronic control device for an internal combustion engine of a car capable of monitoring over a wide range the failure of a sensing device to sense the operating parameters for the engine. CONSTITUTION: At least one measuring device 10 is installed on an output setting member of a car, in particular a throttle valve and/or a control rack and/or accel. pedal and generates at least one signal to represent the position of the member. The measuring device is formed from a number of sensors 12 and 22, compares the signal values given by the sensors with one another, and examines whether the applicable value lies within the specified allowable region to serve for checking whether the sensor functions remain normal. If any sensor is out of function, a sensor functioning normally is asked for.
