Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a phase transition-type optical recording medium capable of being well-preserved for a long period while securing the repetition of recording and erasing many times. CONSTITUTION:The substrate layer 2 and protective layer 4 of this medium are made of different materials. A material having >=2.0X10 dyne/cm elastic modulus is used for the layer 2 and SiO2, ZnS or ZnSe for the layer 4, or SiO2, ZnS or ZnSe are used for the layer 2 and a material having >=2.0X10 dyne/cm elastic modulus for the layer 4. A recording medium capable of recording and erasing >=10 times and without causing defects such as film release under 80 deg.C and 90% RH even after 900hr is provided.
