PURPOSE:To obtain picture signals free from superposition of picture information by starting the reading out of the top effective picture element from a line sensor of the ensuing state at the next timing at which the reading out of the final effective picture element of the present line sensor currently subjected to the reading out of output signals is executed. CONSTITUTION:In a multiplexing circuit 4, the signals S2 obtd. from the line sensor 6a during the time t1 to time t2, the signals S4 obtd. by the line sensor 6b during the time t2 to time t3 and the signals S6 obtd. by the line sensor 6c during the time t3 to time t4, and the signals S8 obtd. by the line sensor 6d during the time t4 to time t5 are respectively selected and are outputted to a sample-hold circuit 8 in synchronization with the driving start of the line sensors 6a, 6b... by the control of a main control circuit 1. The output signals of the multiplexing circuit 4 are the picture signals in which the effective picture information continue.
