FACSIMILE DEVICE

PURPOSE:To obviate the stop of a memory transmission at the mid-point of documents and to eliminate the need for standing by before the end of reading of all the documents by automatically changing over the signal transmission mode according to a residual memory quantity. CONSTITUTION:The residual quantity of the memory capacity of a RAM 13 which is a memory means is detected by a residual memory quantity detecting means 40. The memory transmission mode selected by an operator is accepted as it is and the picture information of the read document is stored into the RAM 13. The memorized picture information is transmitted at the proper timing after the picture information of all the pages is read. The selection of the signal transmission mode is neglected and the mode is automatically switched to the scanner transmission mode when the memory transmission mode is selected while the residual memory quantity is below a prescribed quantity. All the documents are then put into scanner transmission. The need for checking the memory-in of all the documents by the operator is eliminated in this way. The transmission of a part by the memory transmission and the rest by the scanner transmission is thus averted.
