Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve the display state of a liquid crystal display element by impressing the driving waveform having delay time of a time constant or above in rising and falling parts to a liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION:The supertwisted type liquid crystal display device is constituted of a supertwisted type liquid crystal display element panel, a common driver IC for liquid crystal driving connected to the scanning lines thereof, a segment driver IC connected to signal lines and a signal control circuit with which the driving waveforms of a general voltage averaging method are obtainable. The time constant of the rise of the voltage waveform (driving waveform) outputted by the common driver IC 3 and the segment driver IC 4 and the time constant of the fall thereof are so set as to respectively attain about 1mus. The unequal display dependent upon the display contents is eliminated and the uniform display is obtd. with the liquid crystal display device driven in such a manner.
