Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a surface-treated material having superior adhesion to a coating film and superior corrosion resistance after coating by forming a metal plating layer contg. a specified amt. of an org. polymer contg. a complex formed by a specified amt. of specified amido groups or amido-contg. functional groups and a metal. CONSTITUTION:A plating layer consisting of >=0.01wt.% (expressed in terms of C) org. polymer and the balance metal is formed on the surface of a metallic material such as a steel sheet. The org. polymer has amido groups or amido- contg. functional groups represented by the formula in the repeating units by >=10mol% and contains a complex formed by >=1mol% of the groups and a metal. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is CnH2nX, R1 and R2 may be different from each other, n is 0 or a positive integer and X is H, OH, epoxy or a residue of a hydrocarbon compd. having OH or epoxy.
