Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a polysilane compound having excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy and good moldability by reacting 1,2-dichlorosilane with dilithiobenzene in equivalent amounts. CONSTITUTION:A polysilane compound of formula III is obtained by reacting a 1,2-dichlorosilane of formula I with dilithiobenzene of formula II in equivalent amounts. In the formulae, R , R , R and R are each alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; and n is 2 or above. Although the above reaction can be performed in the presence or absence of a solvent, it is usually performed in a liquid phase in the presence of a solvent. The molecular weight of the polysiloxane is 5X10 to 5X10 , desirably 1X10 to 1X10 . This polysiloxane can be used as a conductive material, a nonlinear optical material, a photoresist material, a photoradical initiator, a UV absorber or a selective gas separation membrane material as well as a heat-resistant material or a flame-retarding material.
