Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain the title antioxidant having high safety, excellent fading preventing effects and high effects even with a small amount by extracting seeds of sunflower or oil cake thereof to give a component and hydrolyzing the component. CONSTITUTION:Seeds of sunflower or oil cake thereof is extracted with water or a hydrous alcohol such as ethanol, the prepared substance is hydrolyzed with preferably 0.1-5 N hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, 0.5-5 N phosphoric acid or 0.1-5 N sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide at 30-100 deg.C for 10-300 minutes to give the objective antioxidant. As the condition of the extraction, in the case of water extraction, the extraction is carried out by heating at 50-100 deg.C or by using an autoclave (120 deg.CX1 atmosphere.) and in the case of the hydrous alcohol, 20-90vol.% (preferably 30-75vol.%) alcohol solution is used and the extraction is done by heating at room temperature-70 deg.C (preferably about 50 deg.C).
