PURPOSE:To improve the operability by storing priority information on declensional KANA (Japanese syllabary) ending patterns for KANA-KANJI (Chinese character) conversion and outputting conversion candidates according to the priority information when reading data is converted. CONSTITUTION:A priority output pattern storage means 2 is stored with the priority information on declensional KANA endings. A storage control means 4 stores priority information on a selected conversion candidate in a priority output pattern storage means 2. For example, three kinds of declensional KANA ending pattern of reading data 'uriage' (sale in English) obtained by conversion as shown in a figure are classified as A, B, and C. Declensional KANA ending patterns of 'norikae' (transfer in English) are also classified similarly. When the pattern C is selected for 'uriage', the pattern C is stored in the priority output pattern storage means 2. Then, a pattern C of 'norikae' is outputted as a conversion candidate for 'norikae'.
