METHOD OF MEASURING LENGTH OF LINEAR BODY

PURPOSE:To correctly measure the length of a linear body by attaching a starting end of an adhesive tape with scale to a starting end of the linear body to be measured and moving the adhesive tape together with the linear body. CONSTITUTION:A molding machine 4 for forming a molding part of a divergent connecting part is provided approximately at the center of an expansion 1a between drums 2 and 3 of a main cable. Guide rollers 5, 6 are then installed at both sides of the expansion 1a. An adhesive tape 8 with scale drawn out from a supply pad 7 is inserted between the guide roller 5 and the main cable and guided to a winding part 9 through between the guide roller 6 at the side of the winding drum 3 and the main cable. The winding part 9 is driven at the same speed as the linear body. The length from the starting end of the linear body is correctly measured. In this manner, a divergent connecting part 11 can be formed at every predetermined distance securely and easily, thus improving the productivity.
