Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To efficiently carry out production of stable quality with simple constitution in welding the end insidles of the square cylindrical column base material by erecting the column base material and performing welding. CONSTITUTION:The column base material 31 clamped by a clamping mechanism 127 on a support 124 of an undulating base 123 is erected with an axis 122 as a fulcrum. A welding robot 120 inserts a welding head from the upper end side of the column base material 31 and continuously welds the overall periphery of the diaphragm 34. At this time, since the welding head always performs flat welding work, welding of stable quality is made possible. After the one end side is welded, the column base material is once brought down up to a horizontal state and continuously, it is erected up to an almost vertical state with the other end side upward and the diaphragm of the other end side is welded by a second welding robot.
