Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To leave the result of arithmetic as a design resource by automatically extracting connection and characteristic information on a circuit from the mask pattern of the LSI, further inputting a circuit parameter, and automatically calculating the power consumption. CONSTITUTION:A circuit connection characteristic information extraction device 1 extracts pieces A and B of circuit connection and characteristic information from the mask pattern P. They are recognized as an MOS transistor from, for example, the pattern of a diffusion layer and polysilicon. Then an operator inputs circuit parameter information C on the thickness of an oxide layer, the impurity density of the diffusion layer, etc., from an input device 6 and supplies it to a circuit simulation input information generation device 2 together with the pieces A and B of information. Here, circuit simulation input information D is generated and inputted to a circuit simulator device 3 together with plural load data. The device 3 outputs the waveform of a current flowing to a connected ammeter as circuit simulation output information E and a power consumption arithmetic unit 4 divides a time T into constant sections DELTAT and applies an equation I to the current waveform to calculate and record the power consumption.
