Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion and wear resistances of a metallic base material as a low-grade material bar forming a thermally sprayed layer on the surface of the base material, depositing a metal in the micropores in the layer by electroless plating and sealing the micropores. CONSTITUTION:An electrically nonconductive material such as Al2O3, AlN or SiO2 or an electrically conductive material such as Ni, Cr, Al, TiN or TiC is thermally sprayed on the surface of a metallic base material such as carbon steel as a low-grade material to form a thermally sprayed layer. A metal such as Ni, Pb or Cu is then deposited in the micropores in the layer by electroless plating and the micropores are sealed.
