MANUFACTURE OF THERMOSETTING RESIN PREPREG

PURPOSE:To obtain the prepreg with excellent impregnation property, while the coating unevenness of a base is reduced by a method in which after a base has passed a lower rotary roll, which it passes an upper rotary roll, a rod like member is brought into contact with the base in the width direction thereof so that the advancing direction of the base is changed between the two rotary rolls. CONSTITUTION:After the sheet like base such as glass cloth has been impregnated with varnish, the rodlike member 4 such as a rod made of cylindrical stainless steel is brought into contact with the base in the width direction thereof so that the advancing direction of the base is changed, whereby its deposit volume is made uniform. The diameter of the rodlike member 4 is 15-25mm, and the member is preferably brought into contact with bath surfaces of the base from the front and rear thereof. The base passes the lower rotary rolls 5 and the upper rotary rolls 3 of at least two pairs, and the angle by which the advancing direction is changed is preferably 5 deg.-10 deg.. The height of the upper rotary roll from varnish-liquid level in a varnish impregnation tank 1 is preferably 800-1200mm.
