Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a picture output signal with a satisfactory gradation with a small amount of memory and to obtain high picture quality by performing the interpolation processing to a picture output signal obtained by referring to a lookup table by means of a quantized picture reading signal. CONSTITUTION:A lookup table 107 storing the correspondence relation of the optimum density signal with respect to a color picture color separation signal separated into for each color is provided. A picture processing part 102 referring to the lookup table 107 and converting the color picture color separation signal into the corresponding density signal and a picture output part 103 are provided. The picture processing part 102 quantizes the color picture color separation signal from a picture input part 101 to be inputted to the lookup table 107, and performs the interpolation processing against the output from the lookup table 107. Thus, the picture output signal with a satisfactory gradation can be attained with the small amount of memory and the high picture quality can be obt.
