Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To obtain the subject resin particles giving foamed products having excellent elasticity and impact-damping property by suspending polyethylene particles and a styrenic monomer in an aqueous medium and subsequently polymerizing the styrenic monomer in the presence of an organic peroxide initiator generating a t-acyloxy radical-generating organic peroxide initiator. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene resin particles and a styrenic monomer are suspended in an aqueous medium, and before or after the monomer is polymerized, the resin particles are impregnated with a foaming agent (e.g. butane) comprising an organic solvent having a boiling point lower than the softening point of the produced polystyrene resin. The monomer is polymerized under heating in the presence of a polymerization initiator containing a t-amyloxy radical-generating organic peroxide initiator (e.g. t-amylperoxy octoate) as at least one part of the initiator to provide the objective styrene-modified polyethylene resin particles. |
