Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To increase a substrate temp. and to lower the resistance value of transparent picture element electrodes so that a higher contrast and a large image screen are obtd. by forming the transparent picture element electrodes before the production of color filters. CONSTITUTION:A silicon dioxide or silicon hydroxide layer is formed on a smooth substrate which has excellent flatness and is not attacked by hydrofluoric acid to produce the substrate for templating. A top coat layer 26 consisting of a thermosetting resin or an inorg. thin film which is not attacked by the hydrofluoric acid is thereafter formed on this silicon dioxide or silicon hydroxide layer. The transparent picture element electrodes 25 consisting so ITO. a black matrix 24, and color filter parts 23 are formed thereon and thereafter, a transparent resin substrate 21 is adhered thereto by a transparent thermosetting adhesive. The transparent picture element electrodes 25 consisting of the ITO are formed before the color filters 23 in this way and, therefore, the execution of the production at a high temp. is possible and the transparent picture element electrodes 25 of the low resistance are obtd. The liquid crystal display of the high contrast and the large screen is obtd.
