Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To prevent fire explosion by deciding whether furnace draft fluctuations accompanied by the operation of a pulverized coal firing boiler is normal draft fluctuations or abnormal furnace draft fluctuations due to an accidental fire of said pulverized coal firing boiler. CONSTITUTION:When a furnace draft detector 53 detects a furnace draft detection signal during operation, the detected signal is transmitted into a data processing device 52. In a similar manner, load signals from a load detector 54, which detects loads a boiler's operating status, especially such loads which affect furnace draft, an air flow rate signal form a flow rate detector 55, an operation set number signal or the like are input into the data processing device 52. When the draft fluctuations (behavior) currently incorporated into the data processing device 52 is a draft fluctuation pattern during abnormal conditions, and decided as a draft pattern which calls for a sudden drop or a sudden rise, the ignition of an ignition torch is blocked if the flames of the pulverized coal burner are faded. When the number of accidental fire of the pulverized coal burner amounts to such a value equivalent to several to 50%, a coal pulverizer will be tripped so that the boiler may be protected safely.
