LIQUEFACTION OF COAL

PURPOSE:To stabilize a coal liquefying process by adding water to ash concentrated slurry comprising coal to give water slurry, sending the slurry to an evaporator and making the water slurry in the upper part of the evaporator in an approximately still standing state and the water slurry in the lover part in a stirred and fluidized state. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogenated material of coal such as brown coal is distilled to give distillation residue, which is subjected to ash removal by solvent ash removal and separated into a solution of oil content and ash concentrated slurry. Then, the ash concentrated slurry is fed to a water blender 1, incorporated with water to form water slurry, which is sent through a feed pipe 2 to an evaporator 3. The water slurry 4 is filled to the top of the evaporator 3, made in an approximately still standing state, a stirring blades 5 held at the lower part of the evaporator 3 is rotated, the water slurry 4 is made in a stirred and fluidized state to prevent troubles in a slurry flow pipe, etc., and to stabilize a coal liquefying process.
