INCOMBUSTIBLE RESIN COMPOSITE MOLDED BODY

PURPOSE:To obtain a composite molded body which is a composite molded body, prepared from a mixture of inorganic granules with a thermosetting resin by coating the surface of a thermoset resin with water glass, having incombustibility and excellent in mechanical properties. CONSTITUTION:(A) A composite molded body 1 composed of inorganic granules 2 and a thermosetting resin 3 is produced by mixing 1l inorganic granules 2 (e.g. river sand or glass balloons) with 10-100g thermosetting resin 3 (e.g. unsaturated polyester resin) and mixing a coupling agent, a catalyst, other additives, etc., and molding the resultant mixture. (B) A composite molded body 5 of an incombustible resin used as building materials, etc., is produced by dipping the composite molded body 1 in an aqueous solution of water glass, simultaneously decompressing and deaerating the resultant composite molded body, then hardening the water glass, etc. The composite molded body 5 preferably has >=50% of all the surface of the thermoset resin 3 coated with films 4 of the hardened water glass.
