FIXING DEVICE FOR RETAINER COTTER

PURPOSE:To precisely fix a retainer to a valve head so as to enhance fixing efficiency of a retainer cotter by providing a driving means for elevating a cotter pressing sleeve in an appropriate position after holding it when a retainer head is elevated by a predetermined stroke. CONSTITUTION:With elevation of a retainer head 11, a retainer 4 is pushed up by spring force of a coil spring 5, to reduce each diameter of the upper ends of cotters 3, 3 while inserting the lower ends of the cotters 3, 3 into a tapering hole 4a, thus engaging portions 3a, 3a with an annular groove 2c of a stem head 2a. With elevation of an arm 12, a spring 29 is gradually extended, and a gap between a bracket 20 and a head portion 23a of a bolt 23 becomes 0. And then, the bracket 20 is elevated together with another arm 24 so that a retainer cotter fixing device 10 is separated from the retainer 4. Furthermore, an upper side cylinder is shrunk to wait for fixing work of a next retainer cotter. Therefore, the cotter and the retainer are securely disposed in a stem head of a valve.
