INSULATING ELASTIC CONTRACTION UNIT

PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of an elastic contraction unit in the title and to simplify the construction thereof without damaging insulation by reinforcing the outer periphery of an airtight tubular body formed by a rubber-like elastic material with a reinforcing structure of high tension fibers, providing an insulator on a sealing member, both ends of which are sealed, and contracting and deforming the above unit in the diameter increasing axial direction by application of a pressurized fluid to the interior of the tubular body. CONSTITUTION:The outer periphery of an airtight tubular body 11 formed by rubber or a rubber-like elastic material is reinforced by a reinforcing structure 12 formed by braiding organic or inorganic high tension fibers, a sealing member main body 13 is inserted in both end opening portions, and the openings are airtightly sealed to be coherent by caulking caps 14. In one sealing member main body 13, one end of a communicating hole 17 is opened to the internal space 16 of the tubular body 16, a fitting 18 is mounted on the other end, and a pressurized fluid is introduced into the internal space 16. An insulator 19 made of inorganic or organic material is provided on the free end of the sealing member main body 13. Thus, an elastic contraction unit is light-weighted and simlified in construction and it can attain high insulation without damaging the property thereof.
