Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain the high-strength carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite material with high yield by constituting a matrix raw material of the mixture of pitch, a thermosetting resin-based material and an aromatic nitro compound as a main component and blending this matrix raw material with carbonaceous fibers, and forming the blended material in the specified conditions and thereafter carbonizing this formed material. CONSTITUTION:A matrix raw material is constituted of the mixture of pitch, a thermosetting resin or a thermosetting resin-based material consisting of the thermosetting resin, a curing agent thereof and/or a curing accelerator and an aromatic nitro compound as a main component. This matrix raw material is blended with carbonaceous fibers. The blended material is formed at normal temp. to 600 deg.C at 0.1-400kg/cm and the formed material is carbonized at 600-1500 deg.C and graphitized in accordance with necessity. Thereby, the carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite material is obtained. In the method, the composite material which is dense and excellent in mechanical strength is obtained. Moreover, it is economically obtained with the high carbonization yield of the matrix raw material.
