PURPOSE:To prepare a specification and the like from plural documents by applying consecutive page numbers covering the plural documents, and printing to apply the corresponding page numbers on the consecutive page numbers to specified documents. CONSTITUTION:When printing document data specified by a first specifying means 1, a first page number applying means 3 applies the consecutive page numbers to the respective pages of the document data successively. When printing the document data specified by a second specifying means 2, a second page applying means 4 asks for a starting page number on the consecutive page numbers, and applies the page numbers obtained by successively updating the starting page numbers to the specified documents. Thus, it is possible to apply the consecutive page numbers covering the plural documents, and printing to apply the corresponding page numbers on the consecutive page numbers to the specified documents.
