Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain CaWO4 which exhibits extremely decreased afterglow and high emmision luminance under X-ray excitation and is useful for radiation- sensitized paper with high sensitivity by incorporating a specified amt. of at least one of Bi and Sn in a matrix of calcium tungstate. CONSTITUTION:A calcium tungstate phosphor wherein at least one of bismuth and tin is incorporated in a matrix of calcium tungstate, the contents of the bismuth and tin are respectively 0.1-50ppm and 0.1-10ppm based on the matrix, and the total amt. of bismuth and tin is 0.1-100. This phosphor exhibits remarkably decreased X-ray afterglow and a radiation-sensitized paper prepared therefrom can decrease afterglow without decreasing photographic sensitivity in comparison with a radiation-sensitized paper using the conventional CaWO4 contg. neither bismuth nor tin.
