PURPOSE:To prevent misfiring and deterioration of combustion of a fuel by providing a porous plate for supporting a heat absorbent with inclined surfaces for causing water to flow down from the top part thereof and a large number of opening holes. CONSTITUTION:A porous plate 6 is filled thereon with a heat absorbent 7. The porous plate 6 has inclined surfaces for causing water to flow down to the four peripheral sides by forming water films on both upper and lower surfaces from the top part 6a thereof, said inclined surfaces having the inclination angle of 10 deg. or more and being formed into a conical or pyramid shape. A large number of opening holes 6b capable of forming water films by surface tension, are provided in the porous plate 6. When a high-temperature gas such as a burnt combustion gas is supplied into a high-temperature gas supply chamber 3 and water is sprinkled over the heat absorbent 7 of a heat absorbing chamber 5 on the porous plate 6 through a supply water nozzle 8, the high- temperature gas is discharged from a discharge cylinder 9 through the heat absorbing chamber 5, as a low-temperature gas. Sprinkled water is heated until it flows down along the inclined surfaces of the porous plate 6, and flows down by forming water films 11 up to the periphery of the porous plate 6.
