Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve working efficiency for removing residual molten iron by controlling the tilting velocity of a skimmer so as to discharge only molten slag while measuring the residual molten iron level in a skimmer and quickly discharging the residual molten iron in the skimmer. CONSTITUTION:The skimmer 1 is loaded on a carrier 12 as adjustable to the tilting velocity with a tilting driving device 15. At the time of tilting the skimmer 1 frontward, bottom faces 6a, 6b of slag discharging holes 6 in side walls of a molten iron receiving part 2 are formed to a cross sectional shape having notching part at side apart from the residual molten iron side. At the time of removing the residual molten iron by tilting the skimmer 1 frontward, the tilting velocity of skimmer 1 is controlled with the tilting driving device 15 so as to discharge only the molten slag without overflowing the molten iron from the slag discharging holes 6 while measuring the residual molten iron level in the skimmer 1 with a level sensor 19, and the residual molten metal in the skimmer 1 is discharged from a molten iron flow-out hole 3 while quickly passing through a molten iron under-stream hole 5. By this method, after replacing the skimmer, a molten iron tapping work is immediately executed.
