NEW 3-SUBSTITUTED PYRIDINE

3-Substituted pyridines I (X = OH; Y = -O-CHO, -O-CO-W R , -O-SO2-W R or X + Y = -O-CH(W R )-O-, O CH(O W R )-O-, -O-C-(W R )(O-W R )-O-; W -W = direct bond, -CH2-, -CH2-CH2, -CH(CH3)-, -CH2O-, -CH2S-; R -R = optionally cycloalkyl-substituted C1-C6-alkyl, C1-C6-haloalkyl, C3-C8-cycloalkyl which is optionally substituted by 1-3 alkyl radicals, or C1-C4-alkoxy-C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkylthio-C1-C4-alkyl, C2-C6-alkenyl, C2-C6-alkynyl, optionally substituted phenyl or naphthyl, optionally substituted 5-/6-membered heteroaryl having 1 to 3 hetero atoms; R is additionally H when X + Y = -O-CH(W R )-O-, -O-CH(O-W R )-O- or -O-C(W R )(O-W R )-O- and W2 = direct bond), with the exception of cis-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(pyrid-3-yl)- 1,2-epoxypropane, trans-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(pyrid-3-yl)- 1,2-epoxypropane, 1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(pyrid-3-yl)- 1,2-epoxybutane and 2,4-dichloro- alpha -[1-hydroxy-1-(pyrid-3-yl)ethyl]- benzyl methanesulphonate and the N-oxides and phytophysiologically acceptable salts with mineral acids, and metal complexes of I. The compounds I are suitable as fungicides.
