Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent exhaust of unburnt gas to an exhaust system during burnout of a glow plug by increasing an exhaust gas recirculation amount of a burnout cylinder through opening of a control valve corresponding to the burnout cylinder by means of an output from a detecting means to detect burnout of the glow plug. CONSTITUTION:The upper stream part of an EGR passage 10 for intercommunicating a suction passage 1 and an exhaust passage 4 is branched into branch EGR passage parts 10a. The upper stream end of each branch EGR passage part 10a is connected to a branch exhaust passage 4a on the upper stream side of an exhaust shutter valve 6, a control valve 11 is located to the downstream part of the branch EGR passage part 10a, and the downstream end of the EGR passage 10 is connected to a suction passage 1 part on the upper stream side of the suction shutter valve 3. The heat coil of a glow plug 9 is connected to a control unit 14 through a burnout detector 17. When an H signal is outputted from the burnout detector 17 to the control unit 14, only the exhaust shutter valve 6 of a burnout cylinder 5 is fully closed, and only the control valve 11 of the burnout cylinder 5 is fully opened.
