METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CENTERING OPTICAL FIBER DRAWING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To minimize and simplify the centering mechanism by engaging a centering controller between a movable table on which a drawing furnace and a holder for the mother material are fixed and a supporting bed which supports this table so that the table can be slided in the horizontal plane. CONSTITUTION:The drawing furnace and the holder for the mother material are fixed in one movable table 20, which is supported by a supporting bed 21 so that the table can be slided in the horizontal plane along X axis and Y axis perpendicular to each other. Off-center state of the optical fiber in the X axial and Y axial directions is detected with a fiber position detector S just under the table 20. A step motor 27 is driven according to the off-center detector signals in the X axial and Y axial directions from the detector S to slide the table 20 along the X and Y axis. Thereby, the centering device can be made in one body with decreased number of driving devices, and thereby, higher efficiency is obtained for centering.
