Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To form a coated film for which a planar magnetic material having the axes of easy magnetization unifield uniformly in a horizontal direction and the squareness ration larger than 0.85 is used by impressing ultrasonic waves to a magnetic coating material contg. planar magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:The hexagonal planar magnetic powder the axis 2 of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to a plane surface 1 and having a major axis (a) and length (b) is used. A redispersing stage using ultrasonics is provided in order to disperse the reflocculation (stacking) of this magnetic powder again to sufficiently eliminate the reflocculation. The coated film having the axis of easy magnetization unified uniformly in the direction horizontal with the substrate plane and having the large squareness ration is obtd. simply by using ordinary magnetic field orientation without using specific magnetic field orientation in a subsequent coating stage. The squareness ratio in the traveling direction of a magnetic head larger than 0.85 is obtd. in this way and the recording and reproducing characteristics of the magnetic recording medium are improved.
