GUIDANCE DISPLAY DEVICE FOR AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE:To display the explanation of the contents of a desired facility without increasing the capacity of a CD-ROM by providing a memory stored with facility data in a position-displayed section and an explanation display means which displays the facility explanation of an accessed facility on a screen. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 20 reads map information out of the CD-ROM 15 and displays it on the scanning screen 57 of a display unit 50. When the contents of the desired facility are required during a travel in an area corresponding to the map information being displayed, the section of the desired facility is specified by screen operation and a request for service is made, so that all facilities in the specified section on the map screen being displayed are displayed at their presence positions with numbers given to the facilities. Further, the facilities which are displayed with the numbers are listed on the screen and the desired facility is specified on the screen to display the contents explanation of the facility. Consequently, the position and name of the desired facility are known without using any storage capacity on the CD-ROM 15 and the detailed explanation is obtained.
