GUIDANCE DISPLAY DEVICE FOR AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE:To offer detailed information without increasing the capacity of a CD-ROM by providing a facility display means which displays a requested facility data number on a screen and a combinational use means which obtain detailed information on a facility by utilizing the displayed number. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 20 controls a CD-ROM driver 30 to read map information out of the CD-ROM 15 and displays it on the screen 57 of a display unit 50. When detailed information on, for example, an outing place is required during a travel in the area corresponding to the map information being displayed, a request for the service of the outing place is made by screen operation using touch switches 56 and then facility numbers are displayed at the presence positions of all outing places present in the map information being displayed. Therefore, the detailed information on the outing place can be known by operating a guide book wherein detailed information on respective facilities is entered according to those numbers. Consequently, the guide book can easily be updated, a new facility can easily be added, and the load on both the system offerer and users is reduced.
