Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent the runaway of a coke oven quenching car on the track due to the cutting of a wire rope, etc., by providing on the quenching car a means for controlling the running wheels based on the output from a means for detecting tractive tension. CONSTITUTION:In the brake mechanism 16 of a quenching car, when a wire rope 37 is cut for some reason, e.g. mechanical fatigue, etc., due to long-term use, a means 52 for detecting tractive tension detects the cutting to open an operation change-over valve 49 by the action of a striker 56. By this opening, compressed air stored in an air tank 47 is fed into brake cylinders 50, which operate brake shoes 51 to brake running wheels 15.
