Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To produce a surface-treated material having superior adhesion to a coating film and superior corrosion resistance after coating by forming a Zn-based plating layer contg. a specified amt. (expressed in terms of C) of a (meth)acrylic polymer having a specified compsn. and a specified amt. of Zn on the surface of a base material. CONSTITUTION:A Zn-based plating layer consisting of 0.001-10wt.% (expressed in terms of C) (meth)acrylic polymer and the balance Zn or Zn alloy is formed on the surface of a base material to obtain a surface-treated material. The (meth)acrylic polymer contains units of a (meth)acrylic ester monomer having a group obtd. by adding a compd. having an epoxy group to a functional group represented by the formula by >=5mol% of all the repeating units. In the formula, A is CnH2n, typified by methylene, (n) is 0 or a positive integer and each of R1 and R2 is H or alkyl typified by methyl.
