Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To clean a screen hydraulically as well as mechanically by mounting a backflushing means outside a vessel on the specified condition. CONSTITUTION: The backflushing means equipped with a piston 27 is mounted outside of the vessel 1 having a pulp chamber 9 and a filtrate chamber 12. An end portion 24 of a cylinder 23 is communicated with the interior volume of the apparatus and an end 25 is communicated with the filter chamber 12, filtrate is drawn into the cylinder and pulp is removed therefrom in a slow stroke cycle of the piston, and pulp is drawn into the cylinder while the drawn-in filtrate is expelled out from the cylinder in a fast stroke of the piston. The quickly expelled filtrate causes a backflush through the screen 10.
