RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To visually and immediately grasp a deficient part by moving a loading part from an operating position to a loading/unloading position at the time of key operation when a recording medium for reproducing or recording is deficient and under the infeasible state of its operation based on the key operation. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with 1st detecting means 101b-103b for detecting the state of a recording medium 1B for reproducing to be loaded into a loading part of a reproducing part and 2nd detecting means 101a-104a for detecting the state of a recording medium 1A for recording to be loaded into a loading part of a recording part. Then, when the recording medium 1B for reproducing and the recording medium 1A for recording are under their infeasible states of reproducing operation and recording operation respectively, the loading parts of the reproducing part and recording part are moved from the operating position to the loading/unloading position respectively at the time of operating keys 12, 13,... By this method, the user can visually grasp the deficient part at once, and the deficient part efficiently is removed.
