PRODUCTION OF PLASTIC MOLDED PRODUCT

PURPOSE:To produce plastic molded products not causing deterioration with high mass productivity by coating each platable plastic molded product with an unplatable material except a prescribed part and plating the exposed part after pretreatment for plating. CONSTITUTION:A primary molded product 1 with a projecting part 1a requiring plating is formed with a plastic-based platable material such as ABS resin, modified PPO resin, polyacetal or polycarbonate. Parts 1b of the product 1 not requiring plating are then coated with an unplatable material 2 such as reinforced nylon, polyethylene terephthalate or polyphenylene sulfide to obtain a secondary molded product 3 with an exposed part 1a requiring plating. This part 1a is selectively pretreated, e.g. by roughening the surface and rendering a catalyst and plating is carried out. A metal film is formed only on the part 1a of the product 1 and a plastic molded product is obtd.
