Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent damages on a magnetic disk and peeling of a protective film, to increase reproduction output and to obtain a protective film having excellent corrosion resistance by providing a Ni-Cr-Ti alloy protective film with specified thickness on a magnetic recording medium layer of a metal thin film. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic disk consits of an Al-Mg alloy substrate 1, a base layer 2 for the magnetic recording medium layer, the metal thin film magnetic recording medium layer 3 and a Ni-Cr-Ti alloy protective film 4. By providing the Ni-Cr-Ti protective film 4 of 100-1,000Angstrom thickness on the recording layer, damages on the disk due to a magnetic head and peeling of the protective film can be prevented. The distance between a magnetic head and the recording medium can be reduced to increase the reproduction output. Moreover, the protective film has excellent durability.
