MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To erase rotation without using an exclusive head and to improve the S/N of a sound signal by providing the exclusive hi fi sound rotary heads for SP and EP modes and recording high fidelity hi fi sound ahead of a video signal recording track. CONSTITUTION:By using the composite head of an R(CH video) head 1 for SP and an L (CH video) head 4 for EP as a reference, the composite head of a (CH sound) head 6 for hi fi SP and an L(CH sound) head 8 for hi fi-EP is arranged in the drum rotating direction 120 deg. left from the base composite head; 60 deg. left therefrom the composite head of an L(CH video) head 2 for SP and an R(CH video) head 3 for EP is arranged; and 120 deg. left therefrom, the composite head of an R(CH sound) head 5 for hi fi-SP and an R(CH sound) head 7 for hi fi-EP is arranged. Consequently, the sound head 6 is ahead of the video head, and an existing video signal can be erased by recording a hi fi sound signal performing saturated magnetic recording. Thus, rotation can be erased without using an exclusive head, and the S/N of a sound signal can be improved.
