CHARACTER RECOGNITION POST-PROCESSING METHOD

PURPOSE:To realize inexpensive and high-performance character recognition through a compact dictionary by narrowing a candidate character so that the number of words to retrieve is reduced. CONSTITUTION:A system to perform post-processing based on a recognized result after a character is recognized by collating an unknown character with its standard character is constituted of an scanner 1, a character reading device 2, a host computer 3, a printer 4 and a floppy disk device 5. Here, since word processing is performed by narrowing the retrieved objective character in this word processing into the character of low using frequency, not only the combinations of the characters to retrieve are reduced, but also examples to be stored in a word dictionary are reduced as well. Thus, the character recognition by a small-sized, inexpensive and high-performance device can be realized.
