METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING MULTI-COMPONENT SMOKING PRODUCT

PURPOSE: To exactly put an overlapped terminal part and a smoking article overlap edge in order by first mutually elastically contacting the exposed sections on the outer surfaces of components so that the elastic direction can be vertical to the contact plane section of the component. CONSTITUTION: At a nip N', the respective groups of subassemblies on a drum 320 are attached to the leading edge of a chipping overlap segment 58 from a drum 380. A segment 58 is sent from a feeding reel 382, coated with glue on one side at a position G' and laterally cut by a knife drum 385. The stuck subassembly is passed from the drum 320 to a drum 386 to cooperate with a belt 388 and a chipping overlap 58 is wrapped around the group related with the subassembly. The article provided as a result is a smoking article having a double length. This article is passed through a drum 390 to a drum 392, axially bisected by a knife 393 and becomes two completed smoking articles 10 having a single length.
