WAVE GENERATING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To increase the drive-controllable stroke of a wave generation body and to increase the heights of waves which can be generated and absorbed by making a force operate on the wave generation body which is driven by a wire in the opposite direction from a force which is transmitted by the wire. CONSTITUTION:A guide rail 3 penetrates guide plates 4a and 4b provided to the wave generation body 4 which has buoyancy and the wave generation body 4 is driven upward and downward by the wire 1. A spring 10 provided to the guide plate 4a makes an upward spring force 11 operate on the wave generation body 4. The spring force 11 is so set that the sum of the spring force 11 and buoyance 13 is larger than the weight 12 of the wave generation body 4. The force which operates on the wave generation body 4 consists of the weight 12 of the wave generation body 4, the buoyancy 13, and the spring force 11 except the driving force by the wire 1 and the sum of the buoyance 13 and spring force 11 is larger than the weight 12, so wherever the wave generation body 4 is positioned vertically, an invariably upward force operates on the wave generation body 4 and a tensile force operates on the wire 1. Therefore, the wave generation body 4 can be driven upward and downward by the wire 1 irrelevantly to whether the wave generation body 4 is above or below a neutral point, and a wave with high wave height can be generated.
