Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of 3-(2-arylvinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropan-1-carboxylic acids and esters of the formula (I) in which Ar represents substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, X represents hydrogen or halogen and R represents hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, by reacting aldehydes of the formula (II) with 2-methylbutan-3-one, halogenating the in this case resulting 4,4-dimethyl-3-halo-1-aryl-1-hexen-5-ones of the formula (IV) and reacting the in this case resulting compounds of the formula (V) with bases.
