Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve light-fastness by using a photochromic compound in a microcapsule form in a heat-melting ink layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer material consists of an ink layer obtained by blending photochromic compound in a microcapsule form and heat-melting vehicle applied to a base. The recommendable organic photochromic compounds are spiropyran, spirooxazine, dihydroindorizine, bistriphenylimidazole, flugido, thioindigo, biologen, azocompound, aromatic polycyclic compound and metal salt of diphenylthiocarbazon. Various types of known technique to transform these photochromic materials to a microcapsule are available. These techniques are to apply heat-melting ink containing the photochromic compound in a microcapsule form for hot-melt coating, to dissolve or half-dissolve the compound in any appropriate solvent for solvent coating or to apply the compound dispersed in water for water-based coating.
