METHOD AND DRUG FOR TREATING HIGH SOMATIC CELL CATTLE

PURPOSE:To effectively decrease somatic cells in milk to provide the milk containing small amount of somatic cells without suspending the shipment of the milk for a specified period by feeding (A) rumen-bypassing vitamin A and (B) rumen-bypassing methionine to a high somatic cell cattle. CONSTITUTION:(A) Rumen-bypassing vitamin A and (B) rumen-bypassing methionine are added to a conventional feed and subsequently fed to a high somatic cell cattle preferably (i) in a ratio of vitamin A = 50000-500000 IU: methionine = 10-30g for a month or langer or (ii) in an amount of vitamin A = 3000000-2000000 IU at the first day and subsequently in amounts of methionine = 10-50g and/or vitamin A = 50000-500000 IU for 10-20 days from the next day to provide somatic cell-reduced milk not requiring such the stop of the shipment as in the case of a cattle to which antibiotics are administered. When a fast effect is expected, the method ii is suitable.
